Kevin Sabellico has trouble telling the truth.

SUPERIOR COURT RULES KEVIN SABELLICO LIED ON BALLOT FORM

Court Orders Registrar of Voters to Strike the Ballot Designation “Educator” from the Ballot

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(SAN DIEGO, CA) – Today, San Diego Superior Court Judge Wendy M. Behan ordered San Diego County Registrar of Voters Cynthia Paes to “reject the use of “Educator” as part of [Kevin] Sabellico’s ballot designation”, stating that “[the] Court finds that the term “Educator” is false and misleading”.

Sabellico is a candidate for the San Dieguito Union High School District Board of Trustees - Area 4 who had requested the term “Educator” to appear under his name on the ballot. Sabellico is running against incumbent Michael Allman, elected as Trustee in 2020. “The ballot designation is a short description of the candidate’s occupation that appears under the candidate’s name on the ballot”, said Allman. “It has to be truthful and accurate and represent the candidate’s principal occupation - how they earn their living”, said Allman.

Sabellico attempted to use the term “Educator”, justified by his claim that he was a substitute at the San Dieguito Union High School District. District representatives confirmed to multiple media sources that Sabellico is not and never has been employed by the district.

“Sabellico concedes that he has not yet worked for SDUHSD as a substitute teacher”, said the order, continuing, “The evidence indicates that ‘educator’ is not the candidate's principal profession, vocation, or occupation”. The ballot designation is “false and misleading.”

This was not the first time Mr. Sabellico has made false statements or tried dirty political tricks. He is widely known around the county as a political consultant who has a problem with the truth. A controversy developed in Carlsbad, where he was a candidate for a city council seat, when he promoted false allegations against another Democrat candidate.

After dropping out of the Carlsbad race, Sabelllico moved into the San Dieguito school district just a few months ago to run for school board. His pattern of behavior did not change as he continued to lie in the hopes of misleading SDUHSD voters.

Michael Allman, the sitting Trustee from SDUHSD Area 4 whom Sabellico opposes, indicated he was pleased with the court’s decision. “I’m glad Judge Behan saw through the dirty politicking and the lies told by Sabellico and his team. He is not nor has he ever been a teacher, and he has never been employed by the District. Today’s decision was the right decision, preventing Sabellico from misleading the voters about his occupation.”

Facts about Sabellico

  • He's 26 years old, has no children, and wasn’t ever involved in our school district after graduation. Why is he running for school board?

  • He describes his main achievements as his volunteer work in high school that he passes off as more than it was.

  • His main work experience is in partisan politics (and it is either volunteer or low level work). Why is he not working now as a political consultant in the final days before a national election? Are his services not in demand?

  • While working as a political operative on other campaigns, he blatantly LIED about the opposition candidates. Even when confronted with the opponents own words, he doubled down on the lies and wouldn’t retract them. https://thecoastnews.com/abortion-thrust-to-forefront-of-blakespear-gunderson-race/

  • He’s LYING now about his opponent, Michael Allman. Name calling, lying, and making false accusations is normal for him. A few examples out of many:

    • He claims Allman sued teachers. This is a lie. The only person Allman has ever sued is Sabellico, for lying about his ballot designation.

    • He claims Allman blocked classroom placement for special needs kids. This is a lie. Allman has never taken any such action.

    • He says, “I’ve balanced budgets, kept our schools safe and helped raise reading and math scores.” Neither the committee he was on as a high school student nor the advisory committee he was recently appointed to have authority to do this.

    • He says (Allman) is a die-hard MAGA Republican and has pushed his extreme right-wing agenda on our school board. That is a lie. There is no “right wing agenda” being pushed anywhere and Allman has never mentioned Trump, Biden, Harris or any political party in the board room ever. National politics should not be brought into any discussion or action.

    • He says the district paid over $300,000 to the superintendent who sued because (Allman) allegedly harassed and retaliated against her. The investigation into (Allman) cost the district an additional $49,000. The truth: the Superintendent never filed a lawsuit and she was paid what she was contractually entitled to when she left. Allman called for the investigation to clear his name after she made unfounded accusations. The investigator found he was not guilty of any of the charges.

    • He says, “My opponent tried to make it easier to ban books. Specifically, he proposed a policy that would have let anonymous complaints pull any instructional material off the shelves.” This is not true. Allman did not think books should be removed through a simple anonymous complaint. The district passed a policy that requires all curriculum complaints to be non anonymous. Allman believes anonymous complaints should be allowed but investigated before any action is taken.

  • He was running for Carlsbad City Council until about April, when the San Diego County Democratic party told him to get out of that race since they had a better Dem candidate.

  • Carpetbagger: he didn't live in our district until he decided to run for school board.

  • He had an ethics violation filed against him for trying to persuade a young female volunteer to lie about a fellow Dem candidate. https://northcountydailystar.com/political-plot-claims-create-chaos-in-carlsbad/

  • His campaign is supported by the Teacher’s Union, not parents. The teachers union has given his campaign $56,556 in cash and services. He doesn’t like to admit that the teachers union funds his campaign, so he says he’s supported by “Classroom Teachers” instead. See screenshots of the teachers union contributions attached to this page.

  • He pretended be an "educator" who works in our district to deceive the public. He has a 30-Day permit to be a sub but has NEVER WORKED A SINGLE DAY AS A SUB or in any other position in SDUHSD. He still publicly states that he is employed by the District but he is not. The lying continues.

  • He’s still lying about being an educator. He is not an employee of SDUHSD. His ballot statement title is a lie. See screenshot of the ballot statement attached to this page.

  • He changed his LinkedIn profile to call himself an "Educator" even though this is a lie and he’s been repeatedly told this is a lie. He has not changed his LInkedIn profile after losing his court case and continues to lie about being employed as a substitute. He is not and never has been an employee.

  • He claims to be a "board member" on his ballot designation when he serves on a volunteer, unelected, unpaid board that meets for 90 minutes or less once a month, and has nothing to do with our school district or education. He claims he spends 20 hours a month to prepare for these advisory committee meetings.

  • He only discusses partisan national politics in a race that is non-partisan and local.

  • He fights with people online, insults them, and calls them names.

  • Board Trustee Allman sued him for lying on his ballot designation for calling himself an "educator" and a "board member." Ballot designations must be your primary profession, vocation, or occupation.

  • In the financial reporting period July to September, he only raised about $10K and a quarter of that was a donation from his father. He does not have support from parents. Allman outraised him by almost three times that amount from individual donors.

  • Anti Taxpayer. See these posts attached, from his (now) X account. He thinks Prop 13 is for rich people, should be repealed, and homeowners should pay higher property taxes retroactively ten years before the repeal date.

San Dieguito School Board Member Michael Allman Faces String of Campaign Sign Thefts and Vandalism

Campaign signs for San Dieguito Union High School District Trustee Michael Allman have been repeatedly stolen and vandalized over the past several weeks in the Rancho Santa Fe and Torrey Pines areas. The series of incidents, which has raised concerns among local supporters, has involved aggressive tactics, including one instance where a vandal was captured on video slashing a sign with a knife at 2 AM. In that footage, the individual can be seen hiding in nearby bushes as a car passes by before resuming the act of vandalism.

State dismisses ‘pay-to-play’ claim against San Dieguito Union High School District trustee

In a statement to FOX 5/KUSI on the decision to dismiss the “pay-to-play” complaint, Allman described it as a “false narrative” that was part of “dirty political games” from the challenger in his re-election bid, political consultant Kevin Sabellico. The full statement can be read below:

“Mr. Sabellico and his supporters are political operatives who have played dirty political games this entire election season. In this instance, they made up an accusation and then spread the false narrative that I was under investigation. That was never true and the Fair Political Practices Commission agrees. This is a pattern of unsavory behavior that Mr. Sabellico has engaged in for years.”
